This is your friendly reminder that Lestrade is still probably blaming himself for Sherlock’s death.

Sherlock and Lestrade met ten to fifteen years ago when Sherlock was using drugs and alcohol to self-medicate. Lestrade helped Sherlock get cleaner than he used to be. Sometimes when Sherlock falls off the horse, he texts Lestrade out of habit. It’s why we see Lestrade the day after we see Sherlock drinking more than usual in “The Hounds of Baskerville.”

Sometimes I think Molly’s lunch date she had to cancel because of Sherlock was Lestrade, and it ended up working out because about the only person who could understand, “Sherlock needed the lab, so I couldn’t come to lunch” would be Lestrade.

I was just thinking this when I was baking earlier.

So…Lestrade is a Whovian….(at least according to my dash)

This Lestrade in the moment Sherlock and John escape. Look at him- for me his gesture is screaming: “Oh, no, son, no. Why do you have to do this, why do you always HAVE to be  in trouble. And how am I suppose to help you?”

Papa!strade gives me all the feels.

Oh, God, this. Yes. I was in awe of Graves’ ability to convey everything going through Lestrade’s mind in a single gesture in this moment.

Even after what happened in Reichenbach. <3

This is my favorite Lestrade. He’s so adorable at times.

Well, apart from the novelty t-shirt thing, but I’ll give that a pass because I know scientific research groups and their little injokes and insular rituals and I can kinda buy it.

I thought Lestrade was shoehorned in.

Sorry. Not that I wasn’t glad to see him, but it was like And…

I do agree with the point of this post, but I’m starting to wonder if he’s not there to help monitor the drug situation. I mean we’ve had two episodes end with a rather obvious Sherlock trip, so it all comes down to whose perspective are we really getting in this series? We get John’s perspective on things frequently and then occasionally Sherlock slips in when John’s absent. Usually when Sherlock’s point of view appears, it can be rather disjointed and somewhat ludicrous in the moment.

I wonder if Lestrade, while I admit seemed grossly out of place, didn’t end up being an insurance of Mycroft’s perhaps. Someone there just in case John can’t reel in Sherlock when Sherlock needs reeling in. I mean John was just yammering by the fire and didn’t quite catch that Sherlock was as affected as he was. Sometimes, maybe, Sherlock as he’s going through withdrawal and detox is a two man problem.

Just noticed that Sherlock is a Jedi. Check out that mind trick in the last .gif.
