Castiel told us in Endverse that he didn’t know he had run out of grace until he broke his foot. So, he knows he doesn’t have any grace right now, so definitely an alternate version of Endverse awaits.

I have epilepsy so if you could tag seizure-inducing .gifs with #epilepsy_warning, that would be great. Please don't tag it #epilepsy because that's where people with epilepsy go to talk about it. Not all .gifs are seizure-inducing .gifs. If it reminds you of strobe lights or a club scene, then it's time for the #epilepsy_warning tag.

so does jimmy novak just not exist anymore or…..
If Jimmy exists, he’s not strong enough to be anything more than a voice in Castiel’s head. When Castiel took Claire’s body in #422, Castiel told Jimmy if Castiel returned to Jimmy’s body that Jimmy would never come back again. I’m not sure he 100% doesn’t exist in some form, but he doesn’t exist in a form that can inhabit Jimmy’s body as a dominant force at least.
remember when the show revealed cas was suicidal
remember how they never addressed that again
and instead only added to his guilt

Wait so by shutting the gates of heaven
the only way Misha can be a regular in season 9 is…
Oh, ok. That makes sense. I definitely hope being a regular means he’s in more episodes, but I see your point about it not meaning anything but that he’s making more money (which: YAY).
Yes, I’m happy for him. He deserves a raise for the work he does on this show. I’m sure he’ll be in about 12 - 13 episodes, which is pretty normal for him.
Wait so by shutting the gates of heaven
the only way Misha can be a regular in season 9 is if Castiel loses his grace.
And Castiel losing his grace means he becomes mortal
and mortals can be killed
so Castiel is mortal…
I think the OP was assuming that this season finale will involve closing the gates of heaven, which sort of implies that Cas will fall, or else he’d be trapped in Heaven and therefore not able to be a series regular.
Well, you can be a series regular and appear in only two or three episodes in a season, it happens on some TV shows. I just don’t want people to be horribly disappointed when they find out Castiel might not be in most episodes.

EVERYBODY DIES
AND CASTIEL
But if he dies, won’t he just go back to heaven?
BUt would he be reinstated to angel status?
Misha Collins was a regular in series five and six when he was sometimes and angel and sometimes not an angel. Series regular is a pay grade, it is not an indication of how many episodes he will appear. Some seasons Misha Collins has been a series regular, he’s appeared in as many episodes as seasons where he’s not been a series regular.
Misha becoming a series regular simply means they have the money to pay him at a series regular pay rate. We can’t infer anything about the plot of series nine from a series regular status.
So….if Cas shuts the gates of heaven, will he have to return as well?…Or…choose to fall and stay with Dean?
It might be dependent on where an angel is when the final task is completed. The way Metatron encourages Castiel is why I think this. Metatron, I think, wants to be on Earth when Castiel succeeds so he never has to go back to Heaven ever again. The image of Metatron and his fear in the promo also strengthens this theory for me.
The last few seasons, I swear Dean and Castiel go in this kind of a loop.
Dean: I am here. If you need me, just say the word.
Castiel: No, I can’t involve you it’s too dangerous.
Dean: I can’t believe you made all of these bad decisions. I was here where were you? (this season you can add “You don’t even trust me” to this section of the loop).
Castiel: I’m sorry. I’ve done something I might regret. I am here if you need me.
Dean: You said you don’t need me, I am angry and betrayed. Abandonment issues ahoy.
Castiel: /does something that could have been prevented if these two were in the “I am here” phase of the loop at the same time
Dean: Dammit, Cas, why did you do that? Shit. I’m going to fix it. I am here. If you need me, just say the word.
Angst Reaching Critical Levels: zerostumbleine33: So many people didn’t like the episode. I saw so…
So many people didn’t like the episode. I saw so many important things, even minor things, and parallels, and I generally really liked it.
I want to talk about it for hours and discuss the darkness and pain we saw in Dean and WHY it was like that. Why did it mimic S7 Dean?
I agree. I also thought that Dean might have been both angry but also protective of Castiel. He wanted Castiel to stay put, stay out of trouble. I think Dean’s not completely sure how he wants to handle the situation and that’s why he wasn’t alone with Castiel.
I think we’re heading for a variation on Endverse. I always felt that Endverse wasn’t absolute and might even have been an angelic construct like how they tricked the brothers with the office building in “It’s a Terrible Life.” It just seemed TOO manipulative, if you know what I mean?
I think we’re seeing a return to the harder Dean, the Dean that got off the rack and enjoyed torturing souls in Hell, because that’s how he’s handling Sam being as Sam is and not being able to stop it. It’s also how he’s handling Castiel’s reluctance to trust Dean after Castiel has done so much for Dean. Dean took Castiel’s loyalty for granted and it hurt when he lost some of it (though really, he’s lucky he had that level of loyalty for as long as he did). Dean is trying to take control of a situation no one can control. It’s akin to the seals breaking leading up to the apocalypse. It didn’t matter who broke them, once Dean broke the first seal, the rest would fall. Once Sam killed the hellhound, the rest of the tasks would come. That seems to be how these things work. Maybe we’ll get lucky and things won’t quite end the way we think they might like with “Swan Song.” It’ll still probably be painful however.
shortlimbs asked: "I hope Castiel brings back like three pies." Can I please hug you for this?
Yes, you may.

Dean laughs for 20 minutes nonstop. He laughs until his laughing turns into howling. Because Castiel has never seen or heard a vacuum cleaner before and he smites the shit out of it when the friggin’ thing startles the angel with its Goddamn awful sound.

Angels can lie or bend the truth, so how do we know that what Naomi said about Castiel always rebelling is true? Maybe it’s not. Maybe his rebellion was a new things starting in season four. Maybe she’s altered his memories so much, she just says things like that because she knows he can’t remember the truth.
I mean, she shrank away from Castiel’s grace. I’m still not convinced she’s even an angel.
