So I have been seeing a lot of posts on my dash about how women still need feminism because it’s a dirty word, and I want to tell you as a woman why I don’t need feminism. I don’t need it because it’s a tool of oppression. I have been punished for not being “enough of a feminist.” I have been told I’m a horrible woman by other women because I prefer to see myself and carry myself as an equal of men rather than call myself a feminist and embrace some ideals that I don’t want to embrace. Yes, I believe women are equal to men. Does that mean I want to do away with everything pink and make sure all of my political stances are to the left accordingly? No. And I shouldn’t have to. Because since women are equal to men, that means we all have the equal right to not be carbon copies of each other as women. That’s why I don’t need feminism. Feminism doesn’t like me and doesn’t want me.
